Urine for Something Different

Today's article brings to mind Plato's quote, "Necessity is the mother of invention." And while I'm sure the famous Greek didn't have water scarcity while writing The Republic, it certainly is applicable these days. Our worldwide lack of water has produced a myriad of related inventions, including desalination devices, low-flow appliances, and, of course, efficient irrigation products. And water filters. And the latest addition to the water filter line up? Turn your urine into drinking water.

Yes, now you can be the ultimate recycler. Argentine designer Leonardo Manavella has brought us the Agua H2O, which, apparently, converts any urine, human or animal (if you feel so inclined) to potable water. You simply, ahem, relieve yourself on the "activated carbon" and you now now have a tasty beverage. My only beef? It's not designed well for women. Though I can't say I know a lady pining away for a way to drink her...
